In 2022 approximately 9,000m2 of BGM (bitumen geomembrane) capping was completed along the lower extents of western batter of the Landfill. Concurrently the existing waste Cell 1.1 was expanded southwards. Due to staging requirements, a small section of capping between the 2022 BGM capping and Cell 1.1 expansion was omitted. This section of capping is referred to as the Missing Link. Scope of works involved the following

  • Reprofiling of wester batter waste formation
  • Bulk filling of Western Batter to form capping profile subgrade
  • Installation of Clay rich fill
  • Approximately 3,000 sqm of Geosynthetic lining installation including; Uniaxial geogrid, Drainage Geocomposite and Bituminous Geomembrane (BGM)
  • Installation of growing media and batter rehabilitation
  • Blending, placing and compaction of recycled crushed concrete subgrade to form new Resource Recovery Area hardstand
